If you were hoping the Cavs would swing a deal for disgruntled Suns point guard Eric Bledsoe, don’t get too excited.
From cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon, the Cavs are not in on Bledsoe. From his report:
As of this writing, the Cavs are not in on Bledsoe, according to sources closes to the team and to Bledsoe, and the trade you suggested doesn’t make sense for the Cavs. None really do, so long as Thomas returns healthy and Rose is accountable all season.
The reason the Cavs aren’t interested makes sense. They seem high on what Derrick Rose brings and Isaiah Thomas hasn’t even had a chance to play yet this season. Would Bledsoe make more sense in a vacuum due to his defensive abilities? Maybe, but he has his own history of injuries.
And unless the Cavs are willing to include the Nets pick, the Nuggets and Bucks should be able to beat any offer they could put on the table. The Suns, considering their history with Thomas, probably wouldn’t want him back and Rose can’t be traded until December. It’s a fun hypothetical, but nothing more.
