Without most of the rotation, Cleveland lost in the nation’s capital.

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ preseason will rev into full gear on Tuesday when LeBron James makes his debut. Sunday’s 102-94 loss to the Washington Wizards was simply a holdover.

With James, Kevin Love, Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Tristan Thompson, J.R. Smith and Jae Crowder all resting, Tyronn Lue relied on a completely different set of players, some of whom may not see much playing time once the regular season starts.

Jeff Green lead the Cavs with 19 points, two which came when he posterized Wizards center Ian Mahinmi. Rookie Cedi Osman, who got a starting nod, finished with six points, five rebounds and six assists. Kyle Korver and Kay Felder added 11 and 12 points, respectively.

Richard Jefferson scored eight points in 27 minutes, Jose Calderon scored seven points off the bench and Channing Frye scored three points in 10 minutes. The three are the likeliest candidates to be cut before the season starts, as Cleveland needs to shed one more guaranteed contract.

The Wizards started their normal starting lineup, including guards John Wall and Bradley Beal, but none of them played more than 15 minutes.

The plan for the Cavs in the final two preseason games is for Lue to begin sorting out his desired 10 player rotation, sans the injured Iman Shumpert. That starts on Tuesday against the Chicago Bulls.
