Ante Zizic assigned to the Canton Charge

The center will get some reps with the Cavs’ G-League affiliate.

Ante Zizic has been assigned to the Canton Charge, the Cavaliers announced on Sunday. Zizic will play Monday with the Cavs’ G-League affiliate on Monday on the road against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

Zizic appeared in just five games for the Cavs this season, averaging 1.4 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. He has remained on the bench despite Tristan Thompson’s calf injury leaving some vacant minutes at center. Instead of giving Zizic a chance, Tyronn Lue has (understandably) gone with Channing Frye.

It is, though, good for Zizic to get some playing time in the G-League. In summer league with the Boston Celtics and in his few minutes with the Cavs, he still looks like he’s adjusting to the NBA. In the G-League, he can play more minutes and get more comfortable. It’s unclear how he’ll split minutes with Kendrick Perkins, Canton’s normal starting center.
