Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Los Angeles Lakers player grades

Grading the Cavs performances in a defense-optional win.

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Cleveland Cavaliers David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

Here are the player grades for the Cleveland Cavaliers 121-112 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Few played defense in this game unless they had to, so I’m going to grade how they played offensively.

Jose Calderon: A+

Calderon came into this game shooting 47.1 percent from the floor and 48.3 percent from behind the arc. That will go up as he poured in 17 points on 5-8 shooting from deep.

Kevin Love: A+

Julius Randle was eviscerated by Love to the tune of 28 points on 9-15 shooting. He also contributed 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block for one of his best performances of the year.

LeBron James: A

The 8-18 shooting night is the only thing preventing this from being an A+, as LeBron was in control of this game throughout the night. He finished with 25 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

Kyle Korver: B+

Another solid showing from Korver with 10 points on 4-6 shooting. Just a really good team basketball player.

J.R. Smith: B+

The Supreme shooting sleeve may be here to stay, as Smith’s 3-4 night marks the first time since December 2nd that he’s shot 50 percent or better.

Cedi Osman: B

The lone player who brought consistent effort on defense tonight, Osman was a disruptive force during his 10 minutes of play. He may have been a little too ambitious, accumulating three fouls during that time, but he converted both of his looks and added a steal on an inbound pass for good measure.

Jae Crowder: C+

The good? 5-11 overall isn’t too bad for Crowder given his struggles this season. The bad? Teams continue to go unpunished for ignoring him and packing the paint as he went 1-7 from deep.

Jeff Green: D

To his credit, Green wasn’t awful defensively. However he was a team-worst -4 on the night and struggled converting, going just 3-9 for 8 points.

Dwyane Wade: F

He’s a little banged up, but...

Channing Frye: F

0-3 shooting, 1 rebound, 1 poor showing.
