Both Dwyane Wade and Tristan Thompson will sit Sunday when the Cavaliers play the Wizards in the nation’s capital. Tyronn Lue updated both players’ status after the Cavs beat the Jazz Saturday at Quicken Loans Arena.
Wade is sitting for the second time in three games due to a knee issue, although he said on the Fox Sports Ohio broadcast post-game that it is doing ‘better’. Against the Jazz, Wade played 19 minutes and scored seven points on 3-11 shooting.
Thompson returned to the court Saturday after missing Thursday’s game against the Lakers. He played just over seven minutes, scored four points and pulled down two rebounds. The Cavs are being cautious with him as he comes back form a calf strain that kept him on the sidelines for a month.
Every other healthy Cavalier is expected to play on Sunday. Wade’s day off likely means more minutes for Cedi Osman, Kyle Korver, J.R Smith and/or Jeff Green, while Thompson’s absence likely means more minutes for Channing Frye.
