Canton Charge Weekly Roundup: Eric Moreland, Kay Felder lead the way

New, comments

Quinn Cook and John Holland also played a big part in Canton’s undefeated week.

Here’s your weekly look at the Cleveland Cavaliers’ D-League affiliate.

What happened this week

Sunday, March 5: Canton Charge vs. Westchester Knicks

Against the New York Knicks’ D-League team, the Charge started off their week with a convincing win. In a 120-112 win, Canton tied franchise record with 35 assists. Kay Felder, on assignment from Cleveland, lead the way with 26 points and 10 assists. Eric Moreland added 12 points and 10 rebounds for his 20th double-double of the season.

Sunday, March 13: Canton Charge vs. Rio Grande Valley Vipers

On the same day the Cavs faced the Houston Rockets, the Charge faced the Rockets’ D-League affiliate. Just before the game, the team announced that Felder had been recalled by the Cavs, so Quinn Cook was inserted back into the starting lineup. He finished with 30 points and 9 assists, but also had 7 turnovers. Canton ultimately won by a final score of 120-116 for its seventh straight win. John Holland lead Canton with 36 points, 11 of which came from the free throw line.

Player of the Week

Kay Felder was again really good again this week. And John Holland had two really good performances. But Eric Moreland spent this week making his case for a call-up to the NBA - whether that’s with the Cavs or another team - and filling up the stat sheet.

It doesn’t look as if the Cavs will be calling him up, but he did about everything he could to get on the team’s radar.

At the very least, check out his 9 block performance from earlier this week:
