The NCAA Tournament will begin in earnest on Thursday, March 16 (play-in games don’t really count). Fear the Sword is inviting you to compete against members of the writing staff in a bracket challenge hosted by Yahoo Sports. Here’s the link:

As usual, the selection committee made some pretty egregious errors in seeding. Wichita State a 10-seed? They deserve a 2- or 3-seed. The East region, in particular, is absolutely stacked with six teams that deserved a 4-seed or better. If you are interested, I re-seeded the bracket according to kenpom.com team rankings. You can find a .pdf file here:
My Final Four features Virginia, West Virginia, Louisville and Kentucky (but I’ll probably change my mind about 31 times before the tournament starts). How about you? Let’s discuss our bracket choices in the comments.
The first weekend of the NCAA Tournament is perhaps the most exciting weekend on the sports calendar each year with 48 elimination games in four days. This can serve as an open thread to discuss it as #ChillSZN carries on with the Cavaliers. It’s also a great time to make snap judgements about various NBA prospects (Draft Express Top 100) even if we won’t see the frontrunner for the No. 1 pick, Markelle Fultz.
Can you beat my bracket? I doubt it.* But I welcome you to take your best shot.
* Irrational confidence shall be maintained until at least 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
