Cleveland Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert will miss Saturday’s game with knee soreness, the team says. Shumpert went through warmups, but then decided it was best to sit out Saturday’s game against the Washington Wizards. His symptoms first presented themselves during the team’s afternoon walkthrough.
Coach Tyronn Lue previously said that everyone would play Saturday. That includes LeBron James, who suffered a scratched right cornea on Friday against the Charlotte Hornets.
Shumpert has missed four games this season. He is averaging 7.8 points and 1.5 assists in 67 games, including 29 starts. With his absence, the Cavs have now only had two full games where Shumpert, J.R. Smith and Kyle Korver have all been healthy. Lue has been working to figure out how to best split up minutes between those three players.
Wizards guard Bojan Bogdanovic is a late minute scratch. The Wizards also played last night and Bogdanovic will rest after playing 25 minutes against the Brooklyn Nets.
