Cleveland Cavaliers bring back championship puzzle as a motivator

The Larry O’Brien puzzle is back for another playoff run

In case you missed it, last season the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Championship. Along the way, the team had used a puzzle in the shape of the Larry O’Brien trophy as a motivator.

The puzzle came in 16 pieces, one for each win it would take to replace their puzzle with the real thing. Each player had a turn putting the puzzle piece in place, with the final piece inserted by Tyronn Lue after the Cavs win in game 7.

Another year, another puzzle. Via Uninterrupted, we get to see the new puzzle as well as Edy Tavares, Kay Felder, and Derrick Williams insert their pieces after the Cavs game 3 comeback win over the Pacers.

It’s fun to get a behind the scenes look at the Cavs locker-room, and I hope that we get more as the postseason continues. I’m not sure how much of an actual motivator the puzzle is, but if it can help combat the apathy the team has struggled with all year, then it’s a welcomed piece to the puzzle.
