In a surprise move, the Cleveland Cavaliers have waived DeAndre Liggins with just three games left in the regular season.
The move was announced Sunday afternoon by the team, prior to their game against the Atlanta Hawks.
After this move, the roster now stands at 14. It is unclear at this time what the team plans to do with that open roster spot. They could look to add another big man, depending on how they feel about how Larry Sanders is coming along.
Alternatively, the team could look to add another defensive wing or another ball handler. With the free agent market fairly barren, it is surprising that the team elected to part with one of the few strong defenders on the roster.
It’s unlikely that the team would make this move without a plan in place. So my assumption is that we should hear more in the near future.
