At the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, three-on-three basketball will make its debut in the Olympics. In the debut tournament, eight team’s will compete in men’s and women’s tournaments.
It’s still too early to see who will represent Team USA in qualifying and (assumedly) in the tournaments. But near or at the top of any list would be LeBron James. On Sunday, however, he didn’t sound interested in three-on-three.
“I’m not good at the three-on-three thing,” he said according to Bleacher Report. “I’m more of a five-on-five guy.”

James likely would be very, very good at three-on-three because he’s very good at all forms of basketball. Th real question is if he’ll even play for Team USA in any capacity in 2020. He declined to play at the 2016 Olympics in Rio and last competed for Team USA at the 2012 Olympics in London. He, has though, participated in some team camps and events since.
LeBron will also be 35 in 2020. At that point, he could decide to not play internationally to save energy for the NBA season. But if he does, and could be convinced to play three-on-three, something like LeBron, Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant on team sounds like a gold medal winner and a lot of fun.
