Derrick Rose has signed a one-year deal in Cleveland and LeBron James has invited him to his summer workouts in Las Vegas, per Chris Haynes of ESPN.com.
The two former MVPs could participate in their first workout session as early as Wednesday, sources say. Rose inked his one-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday.
Eric Bledsoe, who’s been regularly linked to the Cavaliers in potential Kyrie Irving deals, will also be working out in Vegas with James and Rose.
This is likely a good idea to get Rose integrated with James and for James to lay out what he expects from the former MVP. Rose’s fit in Cleveland is hugely predicated on how well he can adjust to a much more limited role, assuming that the Cavaliers bring a point guard back in return for Irving or decide that they’re not going to trade Irving in the first place.
Rose had an enormous usage rate last year, and finding ways to contribute without pounding the rock will be vital next year. Hopefully LeBron can set his expectations properly.
