While the Cleveland Cavaliers already have a crowded wing rotation, there’s still room for one more long wing to help them take on the Golden State Warriors. While Dwyane Wade won’t clear waivers until Wednesday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that he is nearing a commitment with the Cavs and could sign as soon as Wednesday:

The Chicago Bulls essentially punted three point shooting and spacing last season, which forced Wade into a role of shooter and lead guard. With the Cavs, Wade will have space to operate and be able to pick his spots offensively. He’s a high IQ guard and has experience playing alongside LeBron James, in case you blacked out from 2010-2014.
Wade is a gifted playmaker and will help increase the Cavs defensive versatility with his length and ability to defend either guard position. While we likely can expect defensive lapses and a LeBron-like effort on defense often in the regular season, his length is still an asset in those situations and could be a factor in the playoffs. At the very least, it’s a defensive upgrade from Derrick Rose and Isaiah Thomas.
