According to the Cavaliers, LeBron James missed practice on Thursday due to an ankle sprain he suffered on Wednesday night. Per the Cavs, James underwent an X-ray that came back negative and he is now considered day-to-day. James was hurt during Dwyane Wade’s first practice with the team.
James’ injury doesn’t appear to be serious, so the Cavs’ most important player shouldn’t face any issues heading into the regular season. But if he’s at all sore or if the Cavs just want to be extra cautious, don’t be surprised if he sits or only plays a few minutes during the preseason. For James, entering his 15th year, there is no upside to playing in the preseason any more than he needs to.
Additionally, Wade will speak to the media for the first time since signing on Friday. He practiced Wednesday with the team, but missed Thursday’s morning workout due to a personal matter.
