The Cleveland Cavaliers are in another slump, going just 2-5 over their last seven games. While frustration over the inconsistency the team has shown this season would be understandable, LeBron James is preaching patience as the team goes through another adjustment period. From ceveland.com:
In comparing Cleveland’s rocky start to the season with this current slide, James said this morning: “We’re just a different team than then.
”We didn’t really know who we were, what we wanted to do at that time,” James said. “We know who we are now, what we want to do. Sometimes even when you know you still take some bumps along that road. That’s OK. We know what we want to do, we know what we want to accomplish. So, we’re a totally different team now.”
The Cavs have come a long way since the start of the season and have a much better idea of who they are as a team. Given the average age of this roster, there will be times where they struggle to find motivation. In addition to that, they still will have times where integrating Isaiah Thomas, Derrick Rose, and Tristan Thompson cause the team to lose some of the chemistry that lead to success earlier this year.
But integrating these players into the roster helps raise the ceiling of the team. Experimenting with the rotation and trying to figure how to maximize this roster should take precedent over January wins. LeBron recognizes this, and it’s why, at least for now, he isn’t panicking over the Cavs play.
