Isaiah Thomas’ night ended early on Monday.
Thomas was called for flagrant 2 foul with 6:47 to play in the third quarter of the Cavs’ game against the Timberwolves and, per NBA rules, ejected. Thomas was called for the foul after hitting Wolves guard Andrew Wiggins in the throat when Wiggins was driving into the lane. Here is video of the play (h/t r/nba):
It looked as if Thomas was attempting to foul Wiggins and prevent an easy two points, but he swung his arm up and clotheslined Wiggins. Based on where Thomas hit Wiggins, this is clearly a flagrant 2. In 19 minutes, Thomas finished 3-11 from the field for nine points. He also had three assists.
