The move gets the team a step closer to finalizing its roster for opening night and eliminates a contender for the last spot on the roster. Randolph, 26, was not of the favorites for that spot. He appeared in the Cavs’ last two preseason games, playing a total of 17 minutes — including just four on Monday against the Pacers.
Randolph has played in the G-League before, but has spent most of his professional career in Europe.
With Randolph gone, the remaining candidates for the last roster spot are guard Isaiah Taylor, forward Bonzie Colson and guard Kobi Simmons. Based on playing time and production so far, Taylor would beem to be the favorite for that spot.
