Already sitting at 0-4, the news keeps getting worse for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season.
The Cavs will be without Kevin Love against the Detroit Pistons on Thursday evening. The big man is suffering from foot soreness and his status will be updated later in the week, according to a release from the Cavs.
Playing on the second night of a back to back without their best player isn’t an ideal situation as they take on the undefeated Pistons. The team has looked disjointed when the starters are not on the floor and without their one player capable of absorbing a high volume of possessions, things could get uglier than we’ve already seen this season.
This might not be the worst evening to start on that book you’ve been meaning to read. But for those that are watching, it’ll be interesting to see who gets the opportunities with a key cog out of the rotation.
The power forward spot is already the thinnest position on the roster. Without Love we will either see heavy doses of Sam Dekker and Channing Frye, or Tyronn Lue may elect to play small with one of the small forwards or even David Nwaba seeing time at the position.
The Cavs have mostly failed to respond to adversity in the first week of the season. We will see if that trend continues on Thursday night.
