Collin Sexton makes first NBA start vs. Thunder

George Hill is a late scratch due to shoulder soreness.

Collin Sexton is set to make his first NBA start.

Less than an hour before Wednesday’s 7 p.m. tipoff against the Thunder, the Cavs announced that George Hill was a late scratch from the starting lineup due to shoulder soreness. In his place is Sexton, who is coming off his fewest minutes of the season Monday against the Magic.

Starting Sexton with Hill out is the right move. The team is 1-9 and getting him the experience isn’t bad by any stretch. Even if he struggles, it’s good to get him reps. And him getting away from Jordan Clarkson, which has been a disastrous pairing, is definitely a good thing too.

It’s unclear at this time how long Hill will be out. It’s also unclear if Sexton will remain a starter beyond this game.

In 10 games this year, Sexton is averaging 10.5 points and 2.2 assists in 23 minutes per game.
