Cedi Osman leaves Cavs-Thunder with back spasms

Osman is considered doubtful to return.

Cedi Osman has left the Cavs’ game on Wednesday against the Thunder with back spasms, the team says. Osman is considered doubtful to return.

Osman was starting at power forward for Cleveland with J.R. Smith subbing in for the injured Sam Dekker. It isn’t clear exactly what play his spasms occurred on, but it’s a tough look for him and the team nonetheless. The Cavs are already thin at small forward and power forward and Osman was the one healthy guy left on the roster really capable of playing those spots.

With him out, look for the Cavs to try out some different lineups that may not make sense otherwise. David Nwaba would seem highly likely to see time now, and it likely means the Cavs will need to play more two-big lineups just to fill space. Kyle Korver and J.R. Smith likely will see a bump in minutes too.

Osman played just under six minutes before exiting the game. He had zero points and was 0-1 from the field.
