Here are the player grades for the Cavs’ win over the Knicks on Wednesday. As always, be sure to share yours below.
Collin Sexton: B-
Sexton scored, yes. And he did some more than that. But he also finished with five turnovers vs. two assists and made only 1-4 three-pointers on the night. This is one of those games that he’ll learn from and look back on as a stepping stone.
Alec Burks: D+
This was Burks’ worst game of his short Cavs career by far, at least as far as shooting goes. And that’s where so much of his value comes from.
Rodney Hood: A-
It’d be good if Hood was assisting on more passes. But this was one of his better games, as he was aggressive, made tough shots and looked to do more than take mid-range jumpers. Plus, the shot he hit to win the game was legitimately a hard shot. More of this Hood would be good.
Cedi Osman: C-
Osman was alright on defense in this game, but he still looks out of sorts on offense. He would really benefit from his role not being jerked around as much.
Channing Frye: C-
Frye was fine. It’s an odd choice to start him, especially when he wasn’t even pulling the Knicks’ bigs out of the paint due to his shooting.
Larry Nance Jr.: B
Nance’s shot wasn’t really working in this game, but he did a lot of of things to really have himself a good game. Most impressive was another game with seven assists. If he can really pass like this, it’ll help differentiate himself from Tristan Thompson and carve out a niche for himself.
Jordan Clarkson: A
Every time Clarkson plays, it’d be better if he moved the ball just a bit more. But when he shoots like he did in this game, and really carries the Cavs offense for big chunks of the game, it’s hard to knock him.
Matthew Dellavedova: A
Dellavedova came out shooting well in this game. worked his butt off on defense and did a little bit of everything to really boost the Cavs bench unit. The MVP chants were a bit much, but he was good and he’s going to make this team better if he can keep playing like this.
Jaron Blossomgame: B
Blossomgame is definitely here to eat minutes. But he’s at least doing his best to maximize the opportunities he has when he’s out there.
Jalen Jones: C
He was fine in his six minutes. It seems likely that he won’t playing much more going forward.
David Nwaba: B+
Nwaba made a few odd offensive decisions in this game. But he was excellent on defense and made some shots too. His dunk at the end of the game was also totally fine.
