Ante Zizic’s yo-yoing between Cleveland and Canton continues.
On Thursday, the Canton Charge announced that Zizic, the Cavs’ rookie center, had been assigned back to them. On Wednesday, Zizic had been recalled by the Cavs before their game against the Heat after a long stretch on the G-League. He, however, was not active for the game.
So far this season, Zizic has played in 14 games for Canton, averaging 14.8 points and eight rebounds per game. The Charge next play on Saturday at home against the Westchester Knicks, meaning that Zizic will not be with the Cavs for their game the same night in Cleveland against the Houston Rockets.
Moving forward, it will be interesting to see how the Cavs will handle Zizic. He is clearly not in their plans for this season, and it’s probably better him to get game reps in Canton in addition to practicing with the Cavs. But, due to Kevin Love’s injury, the Cavs only have two healthy big men in Tristan Thompson and Channing Frye.
Might Zizic be worth keeping around for a break glass in case of emergency situation? Right now, the Cavs’ answer seems to be no.
