The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without Cedi Osman for at least the next two weeks as he suffered a strained hip flexor. Osman was injured in the team’s loss on Friday to the L.A. Clippers.
The team announced the results of the MRI on Saturday, as well as updated the status of Rodney Hood:
A pair of #Cavs status updates: an MRI confirmed @cediosman suffered L hip flexor strain last night vs. LAC & will miss about the next two weeks. @rodneyhood suffered a lower back strain and is DOUBTFUL for tomorrow's game vs. LAL. Both players' status will be updated as we go.— Joe Gabriele (@CavsJoeG) March 11, 2018
The loss of Osman is a devastating blow to the team’s already depleted front court. Already without Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson, the team will need to turn to Jeff Green to fill in at multiple positions.
On the plus side, the injury certainly could have been worse. Assuming there are no setbacks, Osman should return before the end of the month. This will give him plenty of time to work his way back into shape, as well as for Tyronn Lue to work on developing a rotation with a healthy roster.
The fact thatHood’s injury isn’t severe is also some needed good news. If he was going to miss a game or two, at least it is going come against the Lakers and Suns. The team still has a lot of work to be done, and the more time the new pieces have to get integrated the better.
