Allie Clifton, the sideline reporter for Cavs game on Fox Sports Ohio, will be filling for Austin Carr as the broadcast’s color analyst for tonight’s Cavs-Suns game alongside play-by-play man Fred McLeod. According to a Fox Sports Ohio release, Carr is missing the game due to a death in the family.
Clifton, who has been with Fox Sports Ohio since 2012, previously was the color analyst for BCSN in Toledo for Toledo women’s basketball games. Clifton also played for the Rockets. She was also a co-host on the Road Trippin’ podcast before both Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye left the Cavaliers.
In the NBA, Yes! Network’s Sarah Kustok is the only solo female analyst currently working, while Stephanie Ready was a color analyst on Hornets games for two seasons before moving back to a sideline reporter role. ESPN’s Doris Burke was the color analyst for Sunday’s Cavs-Lakers game and was the first woman promoted to the role of full-time analyst.
