The Cavs roster is currently at 13, one below the NBA’s minimum of 14. Two-way players John Holland and London Perrantes, who have been with the team on its just ended road trip, do not count towards that number.
White, 25, played college ball at Florida State before playing 35 games with the Heat last season. A 6’8” forward, White averaged 2.8 points and 2.3 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game with Miami, This season, he played in six games with the Heat before breaking his foot in November.
White was traded to the Hawks on Feb. 8 for Luke Babbitt. He was later waived and hasn’t played with a team since. On the Cavs, he is likely to provide emergency frontcourt depth as the team deals with multiple injuries up front.
Earlier this season, the Cavs signed guard Marcus Thornton to a 10-day deal, but he never played with the team.
