I know what you’ve all been thinking… something has been missing this season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. This season has had all the drama of seasons past, but there just has been something that felt off all year.
On Monday afternoon, that missing piece became crystal clear to me. The Cavs had been missing a guard that believed something hysterically outlandish.
Sure, Isaiah Thomas felt as though he was a star and needed the ball in his hands over LeBron James. But that type of outlandish thinking doesn’t provide as much glee and laughter as Kyrie Irving’s belief that the world was flat.
Fortunately, the acquisition of Jordan Clarkson has given this franchise what they have been missing.
On the Road Trippin’ podcast, Clarkson unleashed his belief regarding dinosaurs:
Clarkson: “Y’all know how we got dogs and stuff right? So, I think it was bigger people in the world before us, and the dinosaurs was they pets.”
DJ Montage: How big were these people?
Clarkson: “Oh, you look at a dinosaur. They got to be three times bigger than them.”

Few things give me as much joy as weirdness in basketball. The fun side that comes along with the game helps connect with the players, even if it’s through outlandish claims. Clarkson has come in and brought the wild shooting and antics that the team received when they first acquired J.R. Smith. The fact that it now comes with fuel for many future jokes, well that’s just a bonus.
