For at least Game 1 of the Cavaliers’ series against the Pacers, guard Kyle Korver will be on a minutes restriction.
During his pregame media availability, coach Tyronn Lue said that Korver will be on a minutes restriction as he continues to deal with right foot soreness. Lue wasn’t sure if the restriction would continue going forward and said Korver told team trainer Stephen Spiro that the foot was doing good. Lue did not specify what the minutes restriction was.
“It’s not a concern because today Steve and Kyle spoke about how [Kyle]’s feeling really good,” Lue said when asked if he expected Korver’s foot to be an issue throughout the postseason. “But he needs to get on the court, go up-and-down, move and see how he feels. But just to be cautious, he’s on a minutes restriction for tonight.”
Rodney Hood will start for the Cavs at shooting guard. He has been dealing with a sore Achilles.
Korver is a key part of the Cavs’ rotation, and has gotten the nod over Hood at different points. His limited time on the court means that the Cavs will need to get quality minutes out of not only Hood, but also J.R. Smith and Jordan Clarkson.
