The Cavaliers are switching their starting lineup up for Game 7, with Tristan Thompson joining the team’s starting five. Alongside him are LeBron James, Kevin Love, J.R. Smith and Kyle Korver.
Thompson has played in just three games so far in the Pacers series, averaging 7.8 minutes per game off the bench. When he played earlier in the series, Tyronn Lue said that he trusted Thompson and liked his ability to create extra possessions. Thompson was a starter for the Cavs last season when they made the NBA Finals.
The insertion of Thompson moves Love back to power forward and James to small forward. The lineup also has no traditional point guard — something Lue has liked having on the floor to take some of the pressure off of James to handle the ball. It is also unclear how the Cavaliers will match-up defensively with this group.
George Hill is active, but will come off the bench. It is unclear how many minutes he will play or when he will be inserted into the game.
