As the Cavs prep for the draft, they are getting looks at players deep into the draft.
Per the Orlando Sentinel’s Joshua Robbins, prospect Anfernee Simons told media attending his workout with the Magic that he had a workout scheduled with the Cavaliers. He did not say when that workout would be:
Combo guard draft prospect Anfernee Simons said he has workouts upcoming with the Knicks, Cavaliers, Grizzlies and Bucks. He said he already has worked out for the Bulls, Suns, Trail Blazers, Lakers and Jazz. He worked out for the Magic today.

Simons, 19, is a 6’5” guard who played at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He was originally supposed to attend the University of Louisville before the Louisville program was punished for its 2015 sex scandal. Simons is the first American player to bypass the draft since the NBA implemented it’s current age restriction rules in 2005.
Simons is considered by most draft pundits to be a mid-to-late first round pick, so unless the Cavs absolutely love him, he won’t be in play at No. 8. In all likelihood, having Simons in for a workout is the team just doing it’s homework and being prepared in case it acquires a second pick (or moves back) and Simons makes more sense at that point.
