Cavaliers take Collin Sexton in 2018 NBA Draft

The Cavs are going with a point guard at No. 8 overall.

As first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavs are selecting Alabama point guard Collin Sexton. Sexton, a 6-foot-3 guard, has been rumored to be in the Cavs’ top choices in recent days.

Sexton, at his best, projects as a two-way NBA player. He has shown flashes of being able to score at all three levels, is tough to contain in the open floor and has shown an ability to be a good on-ball defender. Where he was struggled is off-ball, where his focus has waned at times.

In one season at Alabama, he was the co-SEC Freshman of the Year with Kentucky’s Kevin Knox. He set an SEC record in points scored by a freshman with 632. Sexton helped lead Alabama to its first NCAA Tournament win since 2006.
