No longer will James’ image loom over the city.

No longer will LeBron James’ image hang over Cleveland.

Sherwin-Williams, whose corporate headquarters is home the James’ iconic Nike billboard in Cleveland, announced on Monday — a day after James announced that he was signing a four-year deal with the Lakers — that Nike was taking down the billboard this week. In a statement, the company says it is “exploring options” to replace the billboard.

This is the second time Nike has had a billboard taken down in Cleveland after James has left. In 2010, the shoe company took down a James billboard after he signed with the Heat and put up a second version in 2014 when James returned.

This is not a surprising move in the slightest. With James gone and no longer with the Cavs, Nike has no reason to have the billboard up. Maybe it will return one day, but for now, it is gone just like James.
