The Cavaliers officially announced the signing of rookie point guard Collin Sexton on Wednesday.
Sexton was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft last month.
The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 19.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists. He was the co-SEC Freshman of the Year with Kentucky’s Kevin Knox and set an SEC record in points scored by a freshman with 632. Sexton helped lead Alabama to its first NCAA Tournament win since 2006.
With LeBron James officially a Laker, Sexton will likely have a chance to make an immediate impact offensively for Cleveland, especially considering the fact that he is tough to contain in transition. Of course, his shooting remains a weakness, but if Sexton lives up to his potential he could wind up being a solid two-way NBA player.
