With Cam Payne out, the Cavs are signing guard Kobi Simmons to a 10-day deal. The team announced the move on Sunday.
Simmons, who was with the Cavs during training camp, has played 30 games with the Canton Charge this season in the G-League. In the G-League, he’s averaged 17 points, 3.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Last season, he was a two-way player with the Grizzlies and played 32 games in the NBA.
With the trade deadline close, it is possible that Simmons will not spend much time with the Cavs. But with Payne out, Cleveland probably needs some ball handler depth. Simmons also has more experience than two-way player Deng Adel, who played Payne’s minutes against the Heat on Friday.
