Here’s a take: The Cavs should employ some load management for Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson. Here’s why.
Love is playing the most minutes per game since the 2014-15 season. Thompson is averaging the most minutes he’s ever averaged and the most he’s averaged since he was 22 years old. That’s going to matter at some point, especially since both are so key to the Cavs’ success this year. Both need to be fresh over the course of the season if the team wants the best version of them possible in March and not just November.
As far as we know, both players will tonight against the Knicks. With Larry Nance Jr.’s injury, and Ante Zizic just having come back, there is a need for bodies. So maybe tonight isn’t the night to get them a night off. But maybe it should be later this week on Friday in Dallas or Saturday at home against Portland. Just a thought.
