Take of the day
Kyrie Irving’s quotes from after Celtics-Raptors on Tuesday are exhausting. The Kyrie experience from the last few weeks has been entirely exhausting. When he’s being this version of Kyrie, the bit gets old in a hurry.
But here’s the thing: Kyrie is good enough, I’d argue, to make the chaos worth it. It’s not quite as worth it as it was with LeBron James because — at least in the Eastern Conference — LeBron is an automatic Finals appearance. Kyrie is not that, but he’s really good and comes up big at the most important moments. He’s worth it.
That being said, if you could build a team that was really good without the public strife, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Being the Pacers or Trail Blazers (Dame seems like a really cool dude) seems like it’d a fun existence.
Draft watch
As of today, the Cavs have the third-worst record in the NBA. They have a 52.1 percent chance of landing a top-four pick and a 14 percent chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick. They could pick as low as No. 7 overall.
Today’s Tankathon sim yielded the Cavs the first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft — aka the right to pick Zion Williamson. The Cavs have a 14 percent chance of landing that pick.
