It’s fun to have Kevin Love back, isn’t it? And the Cavs are back tonight, albeit without Kevin Love. So, here’s your Cup of Cavs for Feb. 9, 2019. Be sure to leave your feedback below or send your comments to christopherwmanning@gmail.com.
Take of the day
Marquese Chriss is not the headline — or even in the second or third story — coming out of the Cavs’ loss to the Wizards on Friday. But in his first game with Cleveland, he made a good first impression. His defense resembled an open door and he missed three good looks at the rim. But he did shoot well, he ran the floor and rebounded.
Are the odds in favor of Chriss becoming a good NBA player? They aren’t and statistical models projecting his career aren’t optimistic either. He might not even play once the Cavs have everyone healthy. But he’s 21-years-old and Cleveland shouldn’t be picky about talent. What’s the harm in giving Chriss a shot?
Draft watch
As of today, the Cavs have the third-worst record in the NBA. They have a 52.1 percent chance of landing a top-four pick and a 14 percent chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick.
Today’s Tankathon sim yielded the Cavs the sixth overall pick:
