According to a press release from the NBA, the 2021 NBA All-Star game originally scheduled for Indianapolis has been moved to 2024. For Cleveland, and the Cavs organization as a whole, that means the 2022 NBA All-Star game will take place as scheduled.
“Public health conditions prevented the Pacers, the NBA All-Star Host Committee and the NBA from appropriately planning and executing fan-focused All-Star activities in Indianapolis that were envisioned for this February,” the NBA’s statement read.
This is what the Cavs had been hoping and expected for. Getting the All-Star game was a big deal for the organization when it happened and a big reason why they said arena renovations were needed. It’s too early to know what the team has planned, if the Cavs will have any All-Stars or All-Star weekend participants or anything like that right now. February 2022 is still very, very far away in a world where everything is changing all the time. But the All-Star game is still coming to Cleveland one way or the other.
