According to the league medical report, Collin Sexton (Right Ankle Sprain), Kevin Love (Sore Right Achilles), Charles Matthews (Right Knee Soreness), and Kevin Porter Jr. (Personal) are out tonight for the Cavs’ preseason tilt against the Indiana Pacers. Matthew Dellavedova (Lower Back Contusion) and Cedi Osman (Right Ankle Sprain) are questionable. According to sources, big man JaVale McGee is out as well due to his late arrival with the team.
Seeing such a massive list of players can be alarming, sure. But, keep in mind that the Cavs are still in preseason play and a lot of these players are being held out for precautionary reasons. Cleveland should not and can not risk losing stars and key rotational pieces in games that have no realistic value to their win total - especially after being away from basketball for almost nine months.
With Sexton and Love out and Osman questionable, Cleveland could be down three starters. This means rookie forward Isaac Okoro will have an even bigger opportunity to build upon his impressive outing on Saturday night. The expansive injury list also gives more opportunities to Thon Maker, Dante Exum, Dean Wade, Dylan Windler, Damyean Dotson, and Matt Mooney as well.
