Uh oh. It finally happened. With the best possible odds to secure the first overall selection, the Cavs land the pick and likely will take the best player in the 2020 NBA Draft in LaMelo Ball. But, what happens next will likely shape the franchise for years to come. Teams like the Knicks want Ball in the worst way, and maybe Cleveland can finesse a future pick out of them to jump a spot. If not New York, the Pistons could also be an option for the Cavs to trade Ball to.

But, if Ball is the Cavs’ preferred option in this draft, they could also look to punt on the Darius Garland experiment early into its infancy. Getting the first pick makes things funky for Cleveland, and can have serious ramifications.
