Less than two hours before the second of a back-to-back, Cleveland Cavaliers head coach J.B. Bickerstaff confirmed with the media that center Andre Drummond and forward Larry Nance Jr. are out against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Drummond, who is coming off a 25 point and 22 rebound effort from Cleveland’s last outing against Minnesota, is out with a back injury. In Drummond’s stead, Jarrett Allen will draw the start for the Cavs with JaVale McGee earning minutes as his primary backup.
Nance, meanwhile, has been dealing with a nagging wrist injury after initially suffering it against the Boston Celtics. Holding Nance out in the second game of a back-to-back is likely more precautionary than anything for Cleveland. With Nance out, Bickerstaff shared with the media the team will lean on Cedi Osman, Taurean Prince, and Lamar Stevens to soak up minutes at the four.
The Cavs tip off against the Timberwolves at home at 8 PM EST.
