The Cleveland Cavaliers will look to make it two straight wins as they take on the Washington Wizards tonight in the home opener.
Cedi Osman is a streaky player. The highs will be incredibly high for a role player and the lows make him borderline unplayable. Osman is currently riding a hot streak. He was an outrageous +41 in 26 minutes off the bench in yesterday’s win over the Chicago Bulls as he put up 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting with 4 assists.
Osman seems to have nice chemistry with Donovan Mitchell. Osman has played 40 of the 54 minutes he’s seen through two games with Mitchell. The Cavs outscored the Toronto Raptors by 10 in 21 minutes and outscored the Bulls by 32 in the 18 and a half minutes the duo shared the floor.
It’s an incredibly small sample size so it’s dangerous to draw any conclusions from this, but it’s still worth pointing out. Mitchell is the best on-ball scorer Osman has played with since his rookie season and he’s thriving in this role. Osman’s skillset and energy have always seemed best used next to a high level perimeter scorer which isn’t something the Cavs have had since LeBron James left. We’re finally seeing a little of what he can bring to the table when placed in the proper role. It’s just a question of how long this success will continue.
We’ll see if Osman can continue to find success tonight while sharing the floor with Donovan Mitchell.
