The NBA Christmas Day slate is here. And, despite the Cleveland Cavaliers having the day off, there’s a lot to be interested in.
For starters, the 5 p.m. game on ABC between the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics has standings impact for Cleveland. The Cavs are competing with both teams at the top of the Eastern Conference and, if the result breaks right, they could jump in the standings.
The Celtics, per DraftKings Sportsbook, are four-point favorites over the Bucks. The combined over/under for the game is set at 223 points. Considering the game is in Boston, that makes sense. Milwaukee, though, has been the better team over the past few weeks — particularly on offense.
The odds and start times for the rest of the slate of games is as follows:
- Philadelphia 76ers at New York Knicks, noon on ESPN: 76ers -2, over/under set at 219.5
- Los Angeles Lakers at Dallas Mavericks, 2:30 p.m. on ABC: Mavericks -7.5, over/under set at 225.5
- Memphis Grizzlies at Golden State Warriors, 8 p.m. on ABC and ESPN: Grizzlies -4.5, over/under set at 226
- Phoenix Suns at Denver Nuggets, 10:30 p.m. on ESPN: Nuggets -2.5, over/under set at 231
As far as the Eastern Conference goes, Philadelphia at New York matters too. The 76ers are currently fifth in the conference, but not far behind the fourth-placed Nets. The Knicks, meanwhile, are currently ahead of the play-in tournament back after recently going on an eight-game winning streak.
Beyond that, there’s always a joy of watching LeBron James on a big stage. The Lakers aren’t at full strength with Anthony Davis out, but it’s still LeBron on national TV. Luka Doncic isn’t so bad himself.
