The Cleveland Charge were well represented at All-Star Weekend in Utah. Sharife Cooper and Isaiah Mobley led Team Luka Garza to a 178-162 victory over Team Scoot Henderson in the G League Next Up Game.

Cooper had a good case for MVP as he contributed game-highs in points and assists with 27 and 8 on 12-17 shooting. The point guard was able to showcase his open-court passing ability leading to dunks like the one below.

Cooper’s shot-making was also on complete display as well. He was able to can 2 of his 4 three-point attempts while getting to and finishing at the rim whenever he wanted.

Team captain Luka Garza of the Minnesota Timberwolves ended up winning the MVP honors with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Garza was one of nine players featured in the game who are currently on two-way deals.

Another one of those nine players on two-way deals was Isaiah Mobley. He contributed 16 points on 7-10 shooting with 7 boards, a game-high 4 steals and a block in 21 minutes of play off the bench. Like his brother Evan in the Rising Stars game on Friday night, Isaiah sometimes looked out of place competing like he was on the defensive end.

There’s little to take away from a contest that turned into the last run of pickup game after Team Garza took a commanding first-quarter lead. However, it’s meaningful for someone like Cooper who is looking for a spot on an NBA roster to have an impressive outing like this in a spotlight event. A strong showing while all teams are gathered in Utah is just another accomplishment in what has been an impressive season.

Cooper, Mobley and the rest of the Cleveland Charge will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to North Carolina to take on the Greensboro Swarm.
