Head back to your online shopping cart because the U.S. men’s national team has officially released jersey numbers for the 26-member squad competing in Qatar. The announcement comes less than a week after head coach Gregg Berhalter made his selections public and with a week remaining until the USMNT’s opening match against Wales.
As a rookie with the Buffalo Bills in 1994, I stepped into a K-Gun offense that would fit right into the modern NFL. QB Jim Kelly, RB Thurman Thomas and WR Andre Reed headlined a unit that torched opponents by utilizing tempo, receiver-heavy formations and superior playmaking ability. When I arrived in Buffalo, the Bills were fresh off a fourth straight Super Bowl appearance. Although the organization never hoisted the Lombardi Trophy, its explosive offense not only revolutionized the game, but it provided the next generation of team builders with a blueprint on how to construct a championship-caliber attack for a more wide-open league. Surveying the NFL landscape today, it is apparent that the league is dominated by teams loaded with offensive playmakers — guys who can make special things happen with the ball in their hands. While we know a franchise quarterback is typically needed to compete for the title in today’s high-octane game, a roster stocked with electric game-breakers can transform an average quarterback into an all-star at the position. So, which offense currently boasts the most prolific pack of running backs, wide receivers and tight ends? Which quarterback is flanked by the most dangerous supporting cast of point scorers? Source
Mack Perry: Shock. Cleveland seemed to be all but out of discussions for Mitchell outside of rumors here and there so I had let the idea of a starting back court of Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell fall by the wayside. Little did I know that Koby "The Magician" Altman was working his magic behind the scenes in an effort to bring him to the land. I’m still in a state of shock while typing this. Evan Dammarell: Somewhat surprised since it felt like a foregone conclusion Mitchell was going to be a Knick. But, after the R.J. Barrett extension, I was unsure what was going to happen and thought this may drag out into the regular season. But, now that he’s en route and we’ve had a little over a day to let it settle in, surprise has turned towards excitement. They’re locked in at four spots in their starting five and have a very strong young foundation going forward. Leah Nemeth: "It’s a story about love, deception, greed, lust and unbridled enthusiasm…" Surely there’s a Seinfeld meme for this, I pondered. I called my grandma and texted all the special people in my life. Was this monumental news? No. I just wanted everyone to know that the Cavs landed an All-Star who actually wants to be in Cleveland, where length and hustle are all of a sudden sexy. It feels nice to be wanted. It feels fun to be cool, just being you.

Three more Golden Gophers heard their name called today at the 2022 NFL Draft, as Daniel Faalele, Esezi Otomewo and Ko Kieft all had their dreams turned into a reality. Faalele was first off the board as the Baltimore Ravens took him in the fourth round with the No. 110 pick. Faalele is the first Gopher offensive lineman to be drafted since 2006 when both Greg Eslinger and Mark Setterstrom were selected. Faalele will be reunited with former Gopher teammate receiver Rashod Bateman, who the Ravens took in the first round in 2021. Faalele, who was named All-Big Ten First Team, started 31 of 34 career games at right tackle for the Gophers and Minnesota was 23-11 in games he competed in.
Twenty years old, 11 days into his rookie season, up by one, 6.4 on the clock, Scottie Barnes walked to the free-throw line in Indianapolis. He heard boos and thundersticks. It was Barnes' second road game as a member of the Toronto Raptors. He'd missed three of his four free-throw attempts. If he was feeling any nerves whatsoever, he had a strange way of showing it. We're down to the final two matches of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, with England and South Africa in Saturday's final match.
